This last December was our sons first Christmas! I didn’t know what to expect, because he was only four months old, but I was excited nonetheless to at least get to show him off to friends and family. I knew the first Christmas would be special, but I can’t wait for all the Christmas’ after this one where he will be able to understand what’s going on, and partake in the cookie decorating, Christmas movie watching, tree decorating, present opening, santa shenanigans.
The reality of his first Christmas is that he was quite overwhelmed and overstimulated. We had a house full of 30+ family members on Christmas day, and there was never less than 8 people at a time around him. That’s a lot of people for a little guy that’s not used to being around so many people at once, in a completely new environment, after traveling cross country, and dealing with a time change on top of it all. Given the circumstances, he did great!
Archer especially enjoyed watching his cousins act crazy. Ryan and Brandon were entertaining him the whole weekend. It was so much fun to watch him watching them. Soon he’ll be running around acting crazy with them! It was so awesome to see my oldest nephew Brandon holding him also. If Archer started to get fussy, Brandon knew exactly what to do. I was so impressed! I asked how he knew to soothe a baby and he reminded me that he had a younger brother (duh Aunt Ashley!). But still! It’s like he knew what Archer needed, when he needed it.
My mom had the entire house decorated perfectly for Archer’s first Christmas. It was more Christmassy than I’ve ever seen it before! We celebrate with our immediate family on Christmas Eve and we all wore Christmassy pajamas. Of course, my brother and sister-in-law stole the show with their attire (seen pictured below), and on Christmas day we did a white elephant with all of our extended family, which was really fun!
I took a million photos, a lot of which are on my phone, but here are some of my favorites from my camera 🙂 And lets give Yia Yia Carol some credit for the photo she took of Steven, Archer and I, that we will have to remember his first Christmas by forever!
** Pappous Pete’s favorite age of tiny humans is when they’re extra tiny, so he basically hogged Archer all week from everyone else HAHA!
** Underneath this fabulous sweater were a whole lot of cats (none of us are cat people) on a onesie pajama outfit, and the best part was that it LIT UP. This sweater/onesie/light up outfit 100% explains who they are though. Big fat jokesters that we love.
** YES. My parents always decorate the yard and cactus’ for Christmas!
